2015 MAPACA 2ND PLACE - SPECTACULAR
Silver Ley's Royal Sterling
Alpaca, Huacaya, Herdsire (Male) | Medium Silver Grey
AOA #32663822 | DOB: 7/15/2014 (11 yrs)
Sire: Lancaster's Silver Centaur
32663822<--ari-->Medium Silver Grey<--color-->Lingering Fineness and Density in Grey!!
They have arrived! Centaur's first class of crias have hit the ground and we are extremely pleased. Not only do they all carry an amazingly fine fleece, but they all have very square, solid conformation and beautiful, uniform heads and complete coverage. We did not breed him to any grey females in 2009 & 2010, but he has produced 8 greys so far. He produced black and grey crias 100% of the time when bred to black or grey dams, and 65% of the time when bred to other colors . . . including white!
Centaur exhibits the rare grey combination of superb fineness and density and he carries a very consistent, high-amplitude crimp style throughout his uniform grey blanket. His bone structure is very dense and he carries his correct frame very proudly.
Our initial suspicions of his quality were confirmed when he took a Blue Ribbon in his very first show appearance in a large class of juvenile grey males at the '08 Carolina Alpaca Celebration. Judge Time Lavan stated there that Centuar would go far if he maintained his fineness as he grew.
Update: He has!
In his first show appearance as a yearling, Centaur earned another Blue Ribbon from judge Peter Kennedy at the Empire Extravaganza '08. In his 2008 show finale, Centaur clinched the Reserve Champion Banner under judge Tim Lavan who praised his fineness, density and superior physical development. We continue to enter Centaur's fleece in spin-off competitions where he consistently takes 1st and 2nd place, even in the large shows of AOBA and MAPACA. You know you have a great grey fleece when the spin off judge comments "Wow!" for fineness and "Wow Wow Wow!!" for handle!
Centaur's 2011 Norm Evans' fiber biopsy results have confirmed what we have felt and seen all along . . . superior density, top-level gland presence, high S/P ratio and lack of secondary medulated fibers. He is certainly on track to follow in his famous sires footsteps by maintaining fineness throu<--description-->

She's known to everyone as "Taz" and has some great bloodlines. She was the Reserve Champion at the 2008 MABA show. Her fleece is has won multiple awards and we would be happy to talk to you more about her perfect conformation as well. Her Sire is Starbuck de Alta Vista. Starbuck exhibits amazing fiber density which led judge Amanada VandenBosch to comment that he is "really packing on the fleece" when she awarded him his first Color Champion Banner in Syracuse. When judge Jude Anderson awarded Starbuck the Purple Banner at PAOBA, she said that he was her pick the moment he set foot in the ring. At MAPACA '06, a team of four judges awarded Starbuck first place in the Dark Bred and Owned Yearling Male category over 14 entries from top breeders around the country. Starbuck's crias are following in his footsteps, garnering blue ribbons and even a Reserve Champion banner (our own Mumtaz Mahal)!
We've just made a major reduction to her asking price. This is a great opportunity for someone to acquire a superior breeding female and great mother.

Description
Great Conformation, Phenomenal fleece is the comment from everyone who puts their hands on him - Like Father Like Son. Sterling is the son of Lancaster's Silver Centaur - a multi-blue ribbon and banner champion. He is a very friendly and active boy -- always on the move and pestering any alpaca that will let him. We expect him to develop into a great herdsire for us or for someone else. Furthermore, his dam, Mumtaz Mahal, was a Reserve Champion at the prestigious MABA Show.
UPDATE FROM MAPACA 2015 - STERLING TAKES A SECOND PLACE RIBBON. Judge Wade Gease said his fleece was very soft, with good density and handle and that he exhibited great fleece growth. He also stated there was very little difference between Sterling and the first place position.
His sire: Lancaster's Silver Centaur exhibits the rare grey combination of superb fineness and density and he carries a very consistent, high-amplitude crimp style throughout his uniform grey blanket. We hope the same goes for Sterling!
